Conférence SEALS 2015 "Governmental Transparency and Openness"

July 27 - August 2, 2015 - Boca Raton, USA

On July 27 - August 2, 2015, the Southeastern Association of Law Schools (SEALS) and the Institut du Monde et du Développement pour la Bonne Gouvernance Publique (IMODEV) will organize a panel at the SEALS Annual meeting which will be held at Boca Resort, an ocean side resort, in Boca Raton, Florida.

Issues related to governmental transparency and openness have assumed greater importance in recent years. These issues arise in a variety of contexts. At times, there are issues related to so-called freedom of information or open records laws and whether government is unduly inhibiting disclosure of information that it is required to disclose (or, by contrast, simply should disclose). They also arise relating to the disclosures by Edward Snowden regarding secret governmental cybersurveillance. This discussion group will examine the many facets of governmental openness and transparency.
