Conférence SEALS 2017 "Free Speech and Transparency in a Digital Era"
Thursday, August 3, 2017 - Boca Raton, USA
Call for Papers :
On August 3, 2017, the Southeastern Association of Law Schools (SEALS) and the Institut du Monde et du Développement pour la Bonne Gouvernance Publique (IMODEV) will organize a panel at the SEALS Annual meeting which will be held at Boca Resort, an ocean side resort, in Boca Raton, Florida.
The goal of this panel is to bring together a small group of prominent scholars to continue the multi-disciplinary discussions on transparency, free speech and privacy that we began at the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in Paris in 2013.
This panel will focus on the intersections and trade-offs between free speech, privacy and governmental transparency. In recent decades, there has been a movement towards increasing governmental openness and transparency. This movement has been aided and enhanced by free speech and open ideas. However, at the same time, there is a potential risk to privacy.
